Paver Smith in talks to buy Factory Communications

By Alistair Houghton on Apr 30, 08 08:47 AM

PUBLIC relations firm Paver Smith is in talks to buy rival Factory Communications.

The two Liverpool firms have agreed heads of terms on the deal, and say due diligence is at an "advanced stage".

The deal is set to be completed at the end of May, and would create an enlarged Paver Smith business with 31 staff and a forecast turnover of £2.4m.

Paver Smith managing director Dougal Paver said: "There's still a bit of work to do, but both sides are focused on making this happen.

"The Factory team bring a complementary set of skills." Mr Paver, who co-founded Liverpool agency Paver Downes in a management buyout in 1997, led a buyout of Paver Downes's PR division in June, 2006, to create Paver Smith.

Clients include Shell, Rensburg Sheppards and Downing Group.

Factory was set up in June, 2006, by former Liverpool Echo deputy editor Jon Brown.

His wife, Jane Wolstenholme, ex-editor of the Daily Post, joined the company as a director in 2007.

Its clients include the John Smiths Grand National and Arena and Convention Centre Liverpool.
