LIVERPOOL law firm DLA Piper has extended its record sponsorship with Tate Liverpool until the end of 2012.

DLA will support the new Tate Liverpool Collection display, which will re-launch in spring, 2009.

The current DLA Piper Series: The 20th Century - How It Looked & How It Felt, is one of the cornerstone exhibitions of the city's Capital of Culture year.

Masterpieces now on display include Rodin's The Kiss, Picasso's Weeping Woman and Andy Warhol's Marilyn Diptych.

DLA's extension means this is now Tate Liverpool's longest-standing and largest sponsorship association.

Philip Rooney, office managing partner at DLA, said: "DLA Piper plays an active role in supporting arts and culture in the city.

"Our sponsorship has already helped to bring world-renowned exhibits to Liverpool for all to see free of charge.

"Our extended support will enable Tate Liverpool to continue to deliver world- class displays in the city well after 2008."

Tate Liverpool executive director Andrea Nixon said: "We are delighted that DLA Piper will be continuing to support our Tate Collection. Works from the collection are national works of art, and it is important that these are shared with as wide an audience as possible."

It's pleasing to see this support for Tate Liverpool. The line-up for Culture year has been excellent so far, with hopefully more to come on the back of it. A great venue, too
