Creative cities confence comes to Liverpool
THE UK's creative sector will come under the spotlight in Liverpool today as the city hosts the National Creative Industries Conference.
The event at the Foundation for Art and Creative Technology (FACT), in Wood Street, will discuss what it means to be a "creative city" and debate the impact Capital of Culture has had on Merseyside.
Speakers will include Nik Powell, Virgin Records co-founder and chief executive of the National Film and Television School; Urban Splash founder Tom Bloxham; and Merseyside ACME managing director Kevin McManus.
Today's event is the latest in a series of events held in Liverpool this year to promote various parts of the creative sector, including Design Show Liverpool in June and the Liverpool Design Symposium in October.
Last weekend saw Liverpool host its first Barcamp, bringing together more than 100 delegates from the technology and creative sectors.
The gathering, called an "unconference" because of its spontaneous and freeform structure, could become a regular event.
