January 2009 Archives

THE region's creative sector is "strong and robust" enough to weather the credit crunch in 2009, but will be looking for consolidation rather than expansion - that's the message from the head of support body Merseyside ACME.
Kevin McManus says 2008 was a largely successful year for the region's creative sector, despite the wider economic troubles, with Capital of Culture year and a series of industry events helping to boost its national profile.
DESIGN and marketing firm CL3 has secured two major new contracts.
The firm, in Castle Street, Liverpool, has been appointed by Lewis's department store to help it attract new customers.
MARKETING and PR agency Paver Smith is planning further expansion in 2009 after seeing turnover soar in 2008.
The Liverpool-based company, which has more than 70 clients, achieved a turnover of £1.8m in 2008 - up from £1.2m last year.
The company's growth in 2008 was helped by the acquisition of rival Factory Communications, in May. The company, led by managing director Dougal Paver, now has 34 staff.

BUSINESSES large and small can make a stand against the credit crunch by embracing their creative sides.
The reality for many businesses is very stark. While the procrastinators are battening down the hatches, the fighters are looking at ways to place themselves at the forefront of their marketplace.
