Twitter fans join Liverpool's first Twestival
TONIGHT sees Liverpool plays host to its first- ever Twestival as Merseyside users of the popular social networking service meet to raise money for charity.
Twitter is a "micro-blogging" service that allows people to post short regular updates - known as tweets - about what they are doing.
Celebrity users include Stephen Fry and Jonathan Ross, but the site is increasingly being used as a business tool and a way for people to make new contacts and share information.
Tonight, cities around the world are hosting Twestivals, where people who have met online through Twitter can meet face-to-face.
The events will raise money for Charity:water. which aims to deliver clean, safe drinking water to developing countries.
Tonight's event, sponsored by ICDC and SAE, which will also feature live music and a charity auction, will be held in Leaf tea Shop and Bar, Parliament Street, from 6pm. To book a ticket, visit liverpool. twestival.com
