New design festival to showcase creative stars
LIVERPOOL will again be at the centre of the contemporary design world this year when it plays host to a new 10-day festival.
The Liverpool Design Festival, which starts on October 30, aims to highlight the city's reputation as a centre for fashion and design.
And organisers want Merseyside creative firms to play their part by organising events such as studio openings, exhibitions and workshops.

It follows the success of last year's Design Show Liverpool, which attracted thousands of visitors.
This year's show will be held in the Crypt of the city's Metropolitan Cathedral.
The festival's main showpieces will be two exhibitions running from Friday, October 30, to Sunday, November 1.
The Eco Design Show will showcase environmentally- friendly design and crafts including interior products, ceramics, furniture, lighting, jewellery and fashion accessories.
Meanwhile, the Fashion Lab, open to trade buyers and the public, will showcase work from new designers.
The show will also feature masterclasses from industry leaders, as well as a range of seminars and debates.
It will also see the launch of Design Stars, a competition for 11 to 16-year-olds from Liverpool schools.
The festival is being run by Design Initiative with the support of Liverpool City Council.
Sarah Elderkin, of Design Initiative, said: "Liverpool has built a reputation as a centre for fashion and design.
"The Liverpool Design Festival aims to highlight the city as a location for creative industries and reinforce design as a major part of its economy."
