Shanghai skyline.jpgLIVERPOOL creative agency Uniform has been awarded the £600,000 contract to design and build the city's pavilion at the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai.
The Fleet Street firm is the lead partner in a consortium alongside international exhibition and event specialists SYMA and architects BDP. Its tender-winning proposal for the Liverpool Pavilion includes all elements of the design and build, including project management.

The World Expo in Shanghai runs for six months from May 1, when Liverpool organisers expect to welcome around 1m people to its stand out of an estimated 70m visitors to the Expo.
Nick Howe, managing director of Uniform, was pleased to have emerged successful after an eight-month tendering process.
He said: "We are delighted to be playing such a crucial role in a project which will have significant long-term benefits for the city of Liverpool and the wider North West.
"Our consortium offers the right blend of skills and experience: international exhibition expertise, architectural and engineering know-how and, of course, the instinctive local cultural knowledge which Uniform brings to the job."
It has partnered with BDP, the firm responsible for the Liverpool One masterplan, and SYMA, which has handled major projects for previous World Expos and is the appointed contractor for several national pavilions at next year's event.
Liverpool is the only UK city except London to have a dedicated presence at the Expo. It will exhibit in the Urban Best Practice Area, alongside Venice, Cairo and key regional Chinese cities Suzhou and Hangzhou.
Liverpool's World Expo 2010 operations director, Phil Southward, said: "The consortium's proposal knocked our socks off. It is imaginative, compelling and exciting - much like Liverpool itself.
"It also offers flexible functionality and employs the very best in innovative technology to tell the story of Liverpool."
The city's pavilion will showcase a number of themes including urban regeneration, professional services and the knowledge sector.
An independent report by international consultants Scott Wilson identified four areas where the city can expect to reap tangible rewards.
Increases have been forecast in the number of Chinese tourists and students, as well as a rise in exports and additional inward investment.
Forecasts described as "relatively conservative" by Scott Wilson themselves would generate benefits of £5.5m, but they estimate that it could be worth up to £50m to the city in the 10 years after the Expo.
Liverpool's presence at the World Expo is estimated to cost about £3m, of which half is expected to come from the public sector.
The Northwest Development Agency has committed £1.25m and Liverpool City Council will provide £300,000.
Port of Liverpool and Liverpool John Lennon Airport owner Peel Holdings is the lead commercial partner, which cost it £100,000.
Three other sponsorship deals are expected to be announced within weeks, worth a total of £140,000.
