By Alistair Houghton on Aug 26, 09 04:14 PM

PARR Street studios in Liverpool will next month play host to a "school of rock" to help Merseyside musicians get to conference and festival South by Southwest (SXSW)
The event is held every year in Austin, Texas, and attracts record labels, managers, artists and publishers from around the world.

The North West will be sending a delegation to the event and on Tuesday, September 15, Parr Street will host a networking lunch for those wanting to head to Texas.
The delegation is being organised by bodies including Liverpool Sound City, the Northwest Development Agency and UK Trade & Investment.
Karen Holden, International Trade Adviser for UKTI North West and sector lead for the creative industries, said: "Creative and media industries are already leading sectors in the North West and so we are primed and ready to achieve global success. This is clear from the huge amount of interest over recent years in the region's representatives at the SXSW festival.
"These missions are not just great fun - they have helped generate many thousands of pounds worth of new business and given a high-profile lift to the North West economy.
"Creative businesses are not always aware of their overseas potential, or of the wide range of assistance we can offer them at UKTI. We are urging artists, and others involved in the music business, to get in touch with us to see how we can help."
