New Liverpool Hope University arts venue 'will boost arts sector'
THE chief executive of inward investment body The Mersey Partnership (TMP), Lorraine Rogers, says Liverpool Hope University's new arts venue could help bring new business to the city's creative firms.
Liverpool Hope University has appointed Dr Gordon Ross, former music programme manager for Liverpool's year as European Capital of Culture, as director of production at its new Cornerstone Centre.
He is looking to bring top performers to Hope's £6.5m Centre for Music, Performance and Innovation, due to open early in 2010.
Ms Rogers said: "This new centre will fully complete the campus and I am pleased TMP was able to help the team at Hope to secure the funding to make this project happen.
"We hope this will lead to the creation of new jobs and assist with business start-ups, as well as encouraging wider participation in the arts."
