Footballers' Wives creator is 'brilliant' for Hollyoaks, says Lime Pictures

LIME Pictures says the appointment of Paul Marquess as series producer of flagship soap Hollyoaks will be a "brilliant" move for the show.
Footballers' Wives creator Mr Marquess has succeeded Lucy Allan at the hit show, made at Lime's Childwall base.

Mr Marquess, also a former executive producer of The Bill, will lead the show into its 15th year.
Tony Wood, executive producer of Hollyoaks, said: "I'd like to thank Lucy Allan for making such a contribution to Hollyoaks over the years and wish her well for the future.
"It's very exciting to be working with Paul Marquess again. He's one of the best show-runners in the business. This is a brilliant appointment for Hollyoaks."
Lime Pictures was founded by Phil Redmond as Mersey Television. It created soap Brookside and from 2002 produced the BBC school drama Grange Hill that Redmond had created 24 years earlier.
The company, led by chief executive Carolyn Reynolds, was sold to All3Media in 2005 and changed its name to Lime.
Mr Marquess came up with the idea for Footballers' Wives, which first aired on ITV in 2002 and was centred around the fictional Earls Park Football Club.
Paul Marquess said: "Taking up this position at Lime Pictures feels like I'm going home, as I began my career working with both Carolyn and Tony at Granada, and my first major project was Brookside at Mersey Television.
"I'm a huge soap fan, so to be handed the reins of Channel 4's flagship teen drama is not only a huge challenge but also a massive honour."
Hollyoaks recently marked what it called a soap first when, last month, it screened an episode that "flashed forward" six months into the future. Calvin Valentine, played by Strictly Come Dancing star Ricky Whittle, was seen being shot on his wedding day - and the tale leading up to that shooting will be broadcast over the next five months.
Ms Allan, who has spent five years at Lime Pictures, is now discussing new drama development opportunities at the company.
She said: "I've had a fantastic time working on Hollyoaks, but am now equally excited about what the future will hold."
