Letterpool project to take on London
LIVERPOOL typography project Letterpool is to launch a London edition after winning another award.
The project, created by Liverpool's Switch Media, started life as a website encouraging people to send in their photographs of great examples of typography in Liverpool.
Last year, Switch produced a book of the best examples of typography, called Letterpool: Urban Art and Architecture in Liverpool.
It won a Gold award at last year's Fresh Creative Awards - and last week won a Gold award for Best Use of Typography at the Roses Advertising Awards in Manchester.
Aaron Bimpson, Switch Media's commercial director, said: "Letterpool really captured the imagination and we're hoping for as positive a reception from London's thriving creative scene as we got in Liverpool.
"Now it has a proven track record, we're already speaking with some interesting London-based partners about coming on board.
"The first book caught the attention of Taschen's editor in chief Julius Wiedemann, and we've just confirmed a contribution from typography and branding heavyweight Miles Newlyn for the London edition."
Mr Bimpson said he was thrilled to win the Roses award.
He said: "The Roses Advertising Awards showcase innovation and creativity, and are highly prestigious.
"Letterpool is a beautiful book that really captures Liverpool's creative language - we're really proud of both the project and the response to it.
"The result was overwhelming, and is a reflection of Liverpool's pride in its art, culture and heritage."
